South Shore University Hospital

I am writing a slightly longer review for three reasons. First, to help other parents who are planning for this very important time in their lives—when choosing a hospital, reviews are often the primary and most trusted source of information. Second, to genuinely commend and recognize the excellent services provided by this hospital. and 3rd, the 2.5 stars rating is not fair. I have been to at least a hundred hospitals in different parts of the world, SSUH was the cleanest, kindest, well equipped, and most humane place. Nursing care is THE BEST. This was our second baby. Our first was born at Mount Sinai South Nassau, but due to insurance reasons we chose South Shore University Hospital as our second option. After this experience, it has become our first preference. I must say it was a rough last 15 hours. My father in law took a turn for the worst and was sent to the ED. He was treated by Dr Choi . He was outstanding with his care, kindness to my family and updating often. He was placed in critical care. Sara and Colin and I'm sure other nurses when I was not there yet were absolutely the best RNs we could of asked for. He was transferred to the care of the MICU. Julia the PA was heaven sent. Her compassion, kind heart and gentleness gave our family great comfort. We could not have asked for better care! Thank you all again for all your hard work, love for the job and knowledge and compassion to get us through this hard time. God bless you all! I'm sorry if I forgot other names.

Had to go to the emergency room on Friday morning doue to a fall on the ice. The staff in the emergency room were very helpful. The PA that took care of me and put in the stiches was absolutely amazing. Wouldn't hesitate to go there again

I am beyond pleased and so grateful of all the work that was put into my successful surgery. I am giving this hospital 5 STARS because of the time, attention, compassion, care, professionalism, and major comfort I have experience from Nurse Samantha Hertzman in the Women Health PACU unit. She went above and beyond and I am so thankful. I really hope this hospital knows how valuable and a major impact she had on me with regards to my good thoughts of this hospital, despite what I see from other reviews, Samantha was amazing.. From the time that I was admitted by a staff member who kept my spirit uplifted to the time of the surgery, it was all a smooth transition. Everyone was kind and helpful. Thank you to 3rd floor Tower nurses Courtney and Lissette and CNA Peggy, charge nurse Lisa and vitals lead Jackie, along with hospitalist Dr. Ken Lee and Infectious Diseases Dr. Alheed (Almeed), and fall risk monitor Nevana. My handicapped sister was admitted on Friday afternoon and the care has been exceptional. Courtney, Lissette, Peggy, Lisa, and Jackie were amazing professional, solicitous, and positive with a negative, high maintenance room mate. Dr. Lee promised to call me every day and he has, and provided clear, helpful information along with wanting to answer every question my family and I have. Dr. Alheed (Almeed?) was also very helpful and respectful. Knowing my sister is in caring and wonderful hands helps my family and I during this medical situation. Thank you team!
