Thank you! Long story short — Dr. Penny and her staff truly saved our newly adopted senior dog. This was our first visit (we normally use another vet in the Johnstown area) and we came in because Somerset Veterinary Hospital was on emergency call. I couldn’t have been more impressed with the service, knowledge, and level of care. We honestly thought we would have to put our new dog down, but Dr. Penny and her team knew exactly what to do, gave us honest feedback, and explained everything clearly and concisely. They had her feeling better in 24hrs, we were amazed! Even though they’re a bit farther from where we live, this experience showed us how capable and compassionate they are — and definitely a place others should consider for their pets.

I’ve taken two of my kittens here, both emergencies and their compassion, kindness and professionalism are unmatched. Dr. Penny and Jess, her technician, couldn’t have done more to make sure my pets were cared for with empathy and compassion, just like they were their own. I can’t say how much I appreciate them and their dedication to helping animals!

We have been taking all our dogs and cats here for years. Dr. Penny is just fantastic and her staff is wonderful. She is beyond devoted to her work and every animal she meets. They are very accommodating including prescriptions on site like rx foods and especially flea and tick medicine. My 4 legged babies and I are So grateful for Somerset Veterinary Hospital.

My Jake cat came to us as a stray. He was very sick and liked to hang out in the roads. I explained this to Dr. Penny and told her he had to be fixed before my husband would let him in the house. Without hesitation she asked me, since surgery was going on tomorrow, if she added him on and nurtured him would he have a forever home with us. I said yes and she did the surgery the following day. She treated his many infections and even helped us find a food he can tolerate. She saved my cats life. The staff is always willing to help you and squeeze you in if needed.
