Sentara Urgent Care

Sentara Urgent Care is not what it used to be. Since transitioning from Velocity Urgent Care, the quality of service has drastically declined. I wish I could give 0 stars. Wait times are consistently over an hour, even when you reserve a time slot. Offering “reserved” spots while allowing walk-ins to be seen first is misleading and completely defeats the purpose. Patients schedule appointments to avoid long waits, not to sit in the lobby wondering why they bothered reserving a time at all. Customer service has gone downhill, organization is lacking, and there is little regard for patients’ time. What used to be a reliable, efficient urgent care is now frustrating and disappointing. This location needs serious operational improvements. Until then, I cannot recommend it.

Online appointments are meaningless. I have never received less urgent care in my life. Sentara needs to evaluate the online “appointments” because they are useless - I was informed this clinic is first come first served regardless of appointment. Had I known this, I wouldn’t have bothered waiting for my appointment time. Waited 2 hours for a strep test, was not seen by the actual provider, the medical assistant attending to me was relaying information. I had to poke my head out and indicate I needed to go (had a scheduled call for work) because I was sitting in the room for so long, which is when the test was promptly administered. ⭐ 1-Star Review — Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience........... I recently visited Sentara Urgent Care and had one of the most unprofessional and dismissive healthcare experiences I’ve ever encountered. The young male Nurse Practitioner who saw me was abrupt, lacked bedside manner, and showed no genuine concern for my well-being. His demeanor was dismissive and rude from the moment he entered the room. My visit was simple: I needed refills for my prescribed hypertensive medications (Enalapril, Clonidine, and HCTZ). Instead of providing care, he immediately focused on how “uncomfortable” he felt with the number of cardiac medications I take—medications that have been appropriately prescribed and managed by my providers. I went in the afternoon to get some blood drawn on 10/22/25. The lady at the desk was very kind and helpful, and the lobby area was well decorated with a nice Halloween theme. Maria was great and she totally surprised me because even though I had more than one vial of blood drawn it was actually a totally painless experience. I had to leave a review since I’ve never had my blood drawn so easily before :P I definitely suggest this Sentara urgent care

I had an appt for 1:20 and it's 2:11. My son has still not been seen. I asked what the hold up was and I was informed that I had been placed in the Que and there's still 4 people ahead of me. Unless all of these people had appts prior too 1:20, I don't know why I am still sitting here with a sick child.
