Sentara Urgent Care

This was my first visit since the change from Velocity to Sentara. Somehow we’ve always ended up here on a Sunday morning when we’ve gone. When it was velocity, we were in and out within 30 minutes without feeling like our time was rushed through. Today, we waited an hour before the NP “saw” my son. We waited an hour for 3 minutes of the NP’s time. When she came in, she obviously didn’t pay attention to what I wrote on the paper about my son’s symptoms. The amount of time sick was over a week not 4 days.. which is important when making a decision about whether antibiotics are necessary or not!! She told me she would write an rx for augmentin which I also specifically wrote that my son is too sensitive to it under his allergies. I explained to her (if she even listened) every time he’s had

Customer service could be more considerate with how they communicate and talk to their patients. They have such a nonchalant attitude towards you when you are trying to get information from them regarding your care.

I am writing to express significant dissatisfaction with my recent experience with Sentara Urgent Care in South Boston. While we were on the way with our child, we called the clinic and were advised over the phone that they were not taking any more patients for the day, even though it was only around 2:00 p.m. and their posted closing time is 4:00 p.m. We had relied on this location’s Google Business Profile, which indicated that the clinic was open and **accepting** walk-ins, and reasonably believed our child would be able to be seen. This situation is both misleading and distressing for families who depend on accurate online information and clear communication when seeking urgent care for a child. I've been here twice. Reception/check in ladies need more training in customer service (both face to face and on the phone). The staff inside were very cordial, caring and take their time in examining me as the patient. Patty Chapelle, NP impressed me during my examination. I prefer quality patient care and not a drive by care. I highly recommend Sentara Urgent Care! (Don't get too upset with the front desk attitude)

When I was sick for a week and couldn’t shake it I tried to make an appt with my Primary Care Physician, The clinic did not have open appointments for 2 more weeks! so I decided to hit up velocity, I have been before when I had strep and the flu. So when I went the front desk lady was super nice to me and helped me and i’m only 17 and haven’t been to a different doctor by myself before. The wait time was very short. and the Nurse practitioner and the nurse before her both cared deeply and made great conversation with me and made me feel safe! They gave me antibiotics for a sinus infection and I was better within 24-48 hours and she kept me out of school and work for a day! I love this place. Way better than my PCP.
