Sentara Obici Hospital

We’ve given birth at Obici three times in the last four years, and our most recent experience was once again a positive one. The absolute highlight of our stays has always been the nursing staff. Across all three deliveries, the nurses have been wonderful—consistently chipper, incredibly kind, and genuinely helpful. They make the recovery process so much easier with their attentive care and supportive attitudes. Regarding the doctors, the experience has been a bit more mixed. While we are ultimately thankful for their care and concern, we did feel that you sometimes have to really push to be heard and advocate for your preferences. The Obici Infusion Clinic is top notch. Caring and wonderfully attentive nurses and volunteers make sure patients are comfortable and cared for while also giving life saving treatments. If ever I need their services again, I’ll be happy to return to their care.

The staff was outstanding. Very attentive nice and comforting. Everyone was so nice from the doctor all the way down to the food servers. Even the food was good. I told my wife ithe day of my release im not leaving until after dinner because we werte having salmon lol

I had a left shoulder total replacement surgery at Sentara Obici outpatient surgery center on Friday, February 6, 2026 the care team in the outpatient surgery center was excellent. I could not ask for a better experience. All of the nurses and doctors did a terrific job in caring for me when I was there. I was in the hospital for 9 days and never received one of my blood pressure medications. When I asked the nurse why, she couldn't tell me, she checked my chart, and said there was no note in there why I wasn't receiving it. My blood pressure systolic reading stayed over 180 but they only tried to treat it one time with another medication. About half of the meals that I received had some very interesting and questionable spices, not very palatable at all. When my blood was drawn for cultures in the emergency room, they used the same IV site for all of the draws. Cultures are supposed to be drawn in two separate IV sites. One night there was a fire alarm, which I later found out was an actual fire on the roof. On the positive side all the procedures and surgeries that I had were great, but
