My son has been here since December 3 after suffering a traumatic brain injury on October 9 of 2025. Their team of specialists have been working around the clock with my son Charles and it shows! They are all very kind, compassionate and extremely well-versed in their disciplines! I am especially thankful for their case management team! Having a light in the dark is all it takes.!!! Recently, my dad received care from Select Specialty Hospital. From our experience, the staff worked hard to support him especially considering the challenging nature of his condition. The interdisciplinary approach to care involving nursing, therapy and specialized support helped in making progress during his stay. The hospital’s emphasis on recovery and individualized treatment plans provided reassurance about their goals and next steps. That said, there were times when communication could have been better. On some occasions, updates were slower than we expected. Sometimes you meet the nicest and most caring people by accident. My father was unfortunately hospitalized after an accident and after his stay at an acute hospital he was sent to Select Specialty Hospital in Kansas City on two separate occasions for continued medical care. Both times he was assigned a case management team headed up by Susan Lopez who did an excellent job at not only managing his care but also working closely with our family to not only keep us informed but also giving us solid and reliable information as well as direction so that we could advocate for my father's care with both Medicare, Veterans Administration and even local congress representatives for additional support. My husband was here for almost a month after suffering a life threatening saddle pulmonary embolism. He rehab was rapid. His trach was out in about a week. They really helped him improve to come home! Staff was exceptional at providing care, from him being bed written until he could shower alone. All staff was amazing and communication was exceptional!
