Select Specialty Hospital - Durham

I’m sure like all hospitals this one has opportunities at times but I have been nothing but impressed with the care and compassion provided by the staff to my mom. The providers have been excellent, listening to us and explaining things. Dr. Brown is a real gem! Dr. Rackley the pulmonologist is brilliant and helped get the trach gone. A real miracle! The rehab team is amazing. Jonathan and Eduardo are awesome. The nurses and CNAs have been busy but always kind, knowledgeable and did their jobs. Mary Rose, Maya, Gwen, Janice, Marcia, Arnel and many more were excellent. The CEO and new CNO are also very present in the hospital. There are some renovations going on but it didn’t impact our experience and the updates are really nice. I think it is almost finished. Overall, we would return if o

The overall experience was non plus. Most staff is there for title only. A lot of the work was delegated to CNA’s. Most of the CNAs were marvelous. Marcia was our favorite. Whenever she worked we had no worries. Jasmine was fantastic as well. The CNAs pretty much carried the facility. The Dr’s placate to get you to move on. I never told them when I was coming. We had a situation with a nurse. She was unprofessional and had a strong dislike for trach patients. I witnessed her mistreatment of others. I reported it and requested that she not be allowed to work with my loved one. I was assured she wouldn’t. When I did another unannounced visit guess who they had working with my loved one. I walked in to her telling them that she was not there to do a lot and they may not get their meds becaus

At the previous hospital, I was scared after getting my trach. I was scared about where to go next. Select made me feel safe and cared for. They are very passionate about their work. They are very competent and knowledgeable. The OT and PT are fantastic. They got me ready for the next step in my journey - a rehab hospital. I want to thank everybody at Select. They will be missed!

Overall I would give this hospital 5 stars! I felt very comfortable. The staff know their job. You are treated like family - it’s a home away from home. I had a wound I didn’t think was going to heal but it healed. And the doctors here are wonderful and very pleasant to me. Shout out to Janice, Marcia, Maya, Diane, Andy, Genene, Sheyla, Mike, Justin, Taressa, Eduardo, Jonathan, and Jazmine!

Dear Select Specialty Hospital Staff, My name is Barry Cotton Jr. and I was admitted here on Thursday, January 8, 2026. I was transported here from the ICU at Duke Hospital where I had been a patient since December 17, 2025, and until approximately 4-6 hours prior to my transfer, had never heard of this wonderful place. Taking all that and the fact that I was still on the ventilator into consideration, you could only imagine the level of anxiety and apprehension that this move brought crashing down on me. On top of that I was told by several people that there was a 21-25 day turn around average here from admission to discharge. I remember thinking, yeah right that definitely won’t apply to me. Wow was I wrong. This Thursday will be 21 days and I’m scheduled for discharge tomorrow, which w
