Select Specialty Hospital - Camp Hill

I honestly cannot say enough amazing things. My mom had been in the hospital for 6 months following a serious surgery complication, left in very rough shape with very complex wounds. The entire staff was amazing, especially Amy the CEO. She was available any time to answer questions and facilitate any support she needed. She is so warm and kind and compassionate. The wound nurse, Dimitra, was also so amazing and to great care of her. I truly cannot thank the entire staff enough. They got my mom to a place where she was accepted to a rehab and able to get home. I would trust any of my loved ones to receive care there.

Before getting into the details I want to say some of the staff -- the nurses, CNAs, respiratory therapists and PT/OT are absolutely amazing here. Kind, caring and invested. However, the nature of my review is based on the medical/diagnostic care available at Select Specialty. When my family member was transferred from PSHMC we had a specific discharge plan for followup and treatment. Select Specialty did not follow that plan. In addition, I was told before the transfer that this was the equivalent of a hospital. I sadly learned that is untrue. The medical staff's availability and presence on the floor is significantly LESS than that of a real hospital -- they have one attending doctor and two nurse practitioners who cover this hospital and another hospital (in the same day!). My mom spent several months here to recover from an infection. I cannot say enough good things about this facility. The nursing staff is incredible and attentive. The CNAs were always friendly and willing to stay to chat. A huge shout out to the wound care team, particularly Demetra. She was knowledgeable, kind, friendly and extremely skilled. She genuinely cares about her patients and makes it her own personal goal to help heal patients. Dr. Will and Kala and even Dr. Cohen were so supportive of my mom and ensuring she got the care she needed. The care management team, especially Julia were always available to answer any of my questions and helped us to make a care plan that worked best for our family. SSH cares for the family too. Literally the BEST experience for my mother! She was very critical in Holy Spirit hospital in the ICU. Select medical took her in and she became a brand new person. I cannot say enough about this amazing facility. We are so lucky that select medical was so incredibly knowledgeable and loving and caring. Without them, I would not have my mother today! I’ve never met a staff that went above and beyond quite like they did here at select medical.

This was such a great decision for my dad. After being hospitalized for over 6 months with stints in hospital, inpatient rehab, ICU, short term rehab, SNF, hospitals. No physical therapy department truly worked with him to determine his level of need to get him back home until we got to Select. They listened to him, and didn't just write him off because he is almost 80 with a lot of medical issues. They got him up and walked him for the first time in 6 months. This has given dad hope that he will get back home. All while being able to meet his complex medical needs. The staff was attentive and addressed his concerns immediately. I am so glad we chose Select Specialty to get dad to the next level of his care.
