Had an appointment with Misty Sawyer in 2021 because I was concerned I had PCOS, shocker I DID. Lovely ole misty told me that I wouldn’t get pregnant “as fat as I am” and that she wouldn’t test me for PCOS because I was “just fat” and that’s what was wrong with me. After countless visits with Dr Grumbach at Lexington medical center, Sara Hogg at Lexington family practice, I DO have PCOS. Insulin resistant PCOS at that. I was showing all classic signs of PCOS but because of my weight, smart ass- I mean Misty wouldn’t even check hormone levels or do an ultrasound. For anyone who doesn’t know, PCOS makes weight loss VERY hard. Regardless I have a beautiful set of triplets now that were carried to 34 weeks. We’re all healthy!

left this practice in 2017 after a very harmful experience. My TSH was low and T4 normal to slightly high, but Misty Sawyer told me to “watch what I put in my mouth” and prescribed Synthroid to lose weight — the exact opposite of what I needed. I have hyperthyroidism, and her treatment made it much worse. I already eat healthy, exercise regularly, and have food allergies, yet she focused on my weight instead of my lab results. Hyperthyroidism can even cause weight gain, so her assumptions were medically incorrect. When I called the office to say the medicine was making me feel very anxious and unwell, I was ignored and was told I should “feel great” and then hung up on.
