Safeway Pharmacy

If you are looking for a great pharmacy, I would highly recommend the Safeway in Spearfish, SD. I recently had hip surgery and my husband had to pick up my prescriptions for me. There was a little confusion on the doctor end of things, but these gals knew how to handle the situation. Not only did they take care of that end of it, they knew how to help save us some money as well. The pharmacists are very knowledgeable and handled our situation with grace and patience. You are very much appreciated, thank you so much.

I don't get all the negative reviews. I hardly ever have to wait, they text me when my meds are in and ready, the text includes the co-pay prices which is a nice addition. They're open on weekends and almost all holidays, and they're open as late as 6pm everyday except Sunday (which is still 4pm). If you are that concerned with wait time, then call ahead or check the app. I've literally never had a problem with it. Seriously the best pharmacy I've ever dealt with, especially in the Black Hills area. There are certain times where it is especially busy, around the lunch hour rush for example, but considering that it's open 7 days a week and as late as 6pm, you really shouldn't struggle that much to fit a trip in another time, and even then it really isn't that bad. Well, they're nice. That's where it ends. I have NEVER had a prescription filled on time. They NEVER check their messages. it's not uncommon to have a provider put in a prescription at 8:00 in the morning, and show up at 2:00 PM and they have no clue about your prescription because they didn't check their messages. usually then it takes another hour for them to get the prescription ready, if they even have it. sometimes you have to wait a day or two for them to get it in. which could have been avoided if they would have checked their messages in the first place. even though they're nice, they're lacking in the follow up department. it's much better to just go to walgreens and get fast efficient service, or even walmart.

Yes, there are wait times. BUT, they accept GoodRx, which is extremely cost saving vs Medicare Plan D. They will run both, if you ask, for cost comparison. They are open SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS (except Christmas and one other) which is almost unheard of in the northern hills. Regarding wait times and staffing, it was explained to me by a different pharmacy, hard to find help plus budgetary constraints.

Very bad customer service. Staff seem to be overworked and under qualified. Even though it is a pain, I'm going to switch to a different pharmacy.
