Rolfing in New York City with Janu Vanier

My experience with Janu was absolutely terrible and dangerous. He showed up with his pitbull for an appointment but was visibly under the influence, appeared to be on drugs, and was incoherent in his speech. I was accompanied by my personal assistant and my Pomeranian when his completely uncontrollable pitbull brutally attacked us. My dog was left fighting for his life, went through emergency medical treatment, and suffered severe injuries because of this man’s total irresponsibility. It was a horrifying scene that could have easily ended in an even greater tragedy. I came to Janu almost one year after ACL reconstruction, and I can’t thank him enough. Before working with him, I genuinely thought I’d have to live with ongoing pain — but now, my leg almost feels back to normal. His knowledge, technique, and care made a real difference in my recovery.

Completed a 10-session package with Janu this summer and gained profound insights into my body. Janu Vanier has been one of my longest standing practitioners. Although he has been incredible from the start, his work seems to get even better every year. His level of care and compassion are admirable. He is very attuned and in touch with my needs and he delivers treatments that are extremely efficient and effective. I have had him treat my kids and others friends/family members and will continue to refer other people to him. As a healing practitioner myself, I feel that Janu is the best there is as a Rolfer.

Having had the good fortune of working with many skilled and effective bodywork practitioners in my own time of study and practice, Janu is always at the top of my go-to list. Few individuals combine curiosity and intellectual competency with such practical attentiveness. Many practitioners may be able to make you feel able to be yourself around them, but with him it goes beyond feeling 'acceptable'; you can feel the doors of possibility open in real time, and long after you leave the table. In receiving bodywork and choosing who to see, sometimes it feels (at least personally) like picking between more physical work or more energetic work, or there's both but you feel the separateness.
