Robert J. Settipane, MD - Tollgate Allergy & Asthma

I finally made the decision to see an allergist and I am very thankful it was Dr Settipane. He has a very nice manner about him and you never feel rushed. After testing and results it was determined allergy shots would be my best course of action. Dr Settipane changed my life. I can now be outside and enjoy my life without having allergy symptoms and if I enter a house that a cat lives in I am fine where before I practically needed to go to ER. I could not be more pleased with Dr Settipane and his care. Also, the staff and nurses are great and the shots are painless.

Horrible experience. The caller was so rude and was talking about patients weight and how stupid they are. Then each time I asked her a question, she kept talking over me. I’m shocked that she was a nurse. She said her name was Caterina K. The whole time I was on the phone she was saying she hate patients and that one of the patients was too fat. I find this very disturbing and unprofessional. The simple fact she was talking to another nurse. Then the other nurse told her to mute herself but I have already heard enough. It’s sad how nurses are supposed to help but get too comfortable with their position to where they are disrespectful. If you don’t want to be a nurse, don’t do it. Will never call here again! First time pt here yesterday and the worst experience! Late to see us, poor patient interaction and explanation/poc with us, advised in prescription meds which has bad side effects for my young daughter. Mostly he looked down at his papers and did not say much. Medical assistant did everything. He did not go over results specifically with me and what to do and I had to ask about the results of her breathing test which he forgot about. Left absolutely annoyed, stressed, and no good results except to try to figure out what to do myself. Would not recommend this allergist to anyone. I saw Dr katzen for over 20 yrs and sad he retired.

Dr. Settipane has been AMAZING!! I went to him for a breathing/allergy issue, and it turned out I really needed a pulmonologist. A few weeks after my appointment with him, he called me to follow up, and he ordered a specific blood test. I was able to get the results of that blood test before the pulmonologist appointment, and that was absolutely crucial in getting a diagnosis and treatment. And then today - 10 weeks after my initial appointment, he contacted me again to follow up & see how I'm doing. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate him being so thorough and on top of things! Very impressed & SO grateful!!!

I never post reviews, but this one felt necessary, because it goes well beyond “not a good fit.” I saw this provider following multiple incidents where my eyes swelled shut and remained irritated for months. During our conversation, Dr Settipane continually ran his hands over his hair and clothing, which would absolutely result in transfer of allergens, had he even examined me. He made more than one reference to “nice soft skin,” and generally did not stay on topic or have any capacity to discuss questions or concerns with me. When I explained what I have already tried or learned about my situation, he had nothing to offer and gave no indication of processing the information I provided.
