This hospital is worse than Kevorkians office. I went for assistance for possible medicine side effects (Gabapentin related) ,after the ER said there was nothing physically wrong with me and rolled me into this liminal space of a waiting room. They put me into a dark room since I was crying, then they lied to the doctor and decided to 5150 me without calling family, without advising me that I was being sent an hour away to Marshall Michigan. I lost my job, ended up evicted and had no one to care for my child while I was stuck in psych for 2 weeks. I will never step foot in an ER for the rest of my life due to their disrespect. You've dishonored the oath you all took.

Don't go here for care. They don't care about their patients and its evident by the way you ar treated. The nurse treats me like an inconvenience and nothing gets done in a timely manner.

At midnight I brought an 86 year old woman to U of M psychiatric ER due to a mental health crisis. I am appalled by the negligence and disrespect she just experienced. The triage nurse took the patients blood pressure and did not tell her what it was, so we all assumed it was fine. A few minutes later the patient asked and the nurse reported BP was 184. We told the nurse the patient had a Dr directive to immediately take her emergency BP medication at this dangerously high level. The nurse denied the request and said the patient could not take her own medication until she could be evaluated. We asked how long this would be and it could take a few hours. We asked her to consult the doctor to make an exception due to the emergency, and the doctor then denied the request, saying she ha

This place saved my life. Unfortunately though the wait is far far too long. I understand being understaffed and overwhelmed, I really do, but this place is a lot of peoples last option and if they don’t feel that they’re getting the help they need in an adequate amount of time they’ll just leave and never come back. I came here originally a year and a half before I was admitted for nine days and I waited around for six hours then and left. Later, my mental condition worsened and it got to the point where I had no choice but to come back because I was having severe psychosis at the time and was self harming and attempting suicide .That being said, the nurses there were wonderful. The psych er has things to be desired...like some checking on people waiting for hours, someplace comfortable to rest when you are in there, and in general staff were not as compassionate. But my inpatient stay was great with responsive staff, you get a basic phone, and the groups were helpful.
