Prisma Health OB/GYN–Sumter

This review deserves 0 stars based on the unprofessionalism of Dr Avery Collins at Prisma Health OB/GYN Sumter SC. On January 12, 2026 I went to my scheduled “pre-op” appointment with Dr Collins in preparation for an upcoming surgery with him, which was scheduled for 2 weeks later. I arrived at my appointment, checked in, was taken to do labs, then went to the exam room. When Dr. Collins entered the room, I began to ask questions pertaining to the actual surgery, anesthesia and other medical concerns I had. I asked Dr Collins did he have another practice at another location or was the Sumter location his only location. Dr Collins “frowned” and asked me WHY! I attempted to explain why I asked however, Dr Collins was clearly offended and upset. Dr Collins proceeded to speak and stated

Feel like my problems was ignored was in the hospital for 2 days nearly dying I've beg them to do a ct scan and was told my pain was normal While I'm screaming in pain I've call multiple times at the nurse station to get something to drink and no one wouldn't come for hours I literally had to get out my bed and get something to drink! They drug tested me and everything was negative funny how they was so quick to drug test me then the figure out the problem that was going on Dr. Burleson was very rude and would speak to me about my health , refused to come to my room after I told her I didn't think they was doing a good enough job , she said I was rude how I could've been rude and the whole two times I was there I was dying in pain? They gave me the wrong medicine the whole time and over dr

I love Dr.Latham & Dr.Collins ! One delivered my oldest and the other one was my youngest, Dr.Latham will take time to listen and make sure all your questions are answered! I know a lot of people misjudge her for being “Rude” but honestly she’s super compassionate about her patience’s she sees! I thought the same thing when I first met her but honestly just give her chance you will love her, she’s straight forward and doesn’t sugar coat anything!

Very little compassion for patients. Staff does not take accountability for their actions. OB experiences were fine x 2. GYN experience for annual visits and stage IV endometriosis were a joke. Most recently I called for left ovarian pain (with a significant history) and was told to go to my primary care physician for “left abdominal pain” …when asked why I would go to PCP for a GYN related issue they quit responding.

I love the doctors here!! Dr smith & collins are my absolute favorite. I do NOT recommend Dr. Latham. She didn’t even know why she was seeing me today, what I came in for or was helpful at all. She didn’t even say hello coming through the door. She had not looked at her notes and was completely clueless about my previous pregnancies, my current pregnancy. Worst of all she didn’t even know why I was in the office today. And was rude. I will see anyone there BUT her.!!!!
