Prisma Health Hospice – Columbia

A family member was recently under the care of Prisma Health Hospice. Our experience was awful. First, no attention because they confused him with another patient. Then lack of promised visits by nurses and caregivers. A doctor never saw him, and he died on 7/1 and as of today, 7/7, a doctor has not signed the death certificate. That is holding up his cremation. Oxygen was ordered but never delivered. Supplies were mailed to an incorrect address. They neglected to record his DNR so the coroner needed to come and examine and photo him in our home when he died. I could continue, but you get the idea. Hospice is supposed to offer comfort to both the patient and his family. Prisma caused this family member distress during a very difficult time. DO NOT PLACE A LOVED ONE IN THEIR CARE!!!!

If I could give this hospice a negative star I would. I myself am a hospice nurse with over 18 yrs of experience and simply am dumbfounded how this place calls themselves professional. What they allowed to happen to my father before he died was deplorable. Unfortunately my brother was his POA who had no medical knowledge. The nurses (all but one, think her name was Angie) barely ever spoke to my Dad when he was still coherent. He complained about this frequently. The nurse (his was Ellen but there were others) over medicated my Dad to death. It was frankly the worst case of chemical restraints on a pt I have ever witnessed. They had my father (at that time was essentially unresponsive) on Haldol, Remeron, Seroquel, Ativan and Morphine around the clock.!!! He suffered from dementia but only
