Prisma Health Allergy, Asthma and Immunology–Columbia

Due to me walking in 1 minute after the grace period ( aka 8:16) my doctor cancelled my allergy test appointment. I had to come off my sleeping medication for over a week cause it's an antihistamine. I've used all my sick leave to accommodate his 8-4 allergy shot hours. It's a 30 minute drive from my office so 1 hour of leave for every shot I got. Now I have to wait till JANUARY to see if I need shots still with his skin test unless I wanna pay for a blood test. He really pushed for the blood test but insurance don't cover so the cost is out of pocket. I told him 3 weeks without a shot and I can feel the bothersome symptoms, and now my serum is done till I get the test. Not to mention this was my first appointment since he took over in JULY. As a patient of Dr. Hutto for over 33 years, my experience with Prisma Health Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology–Columbia has been extremely disappointing. If 0 stars were an option, I would give that rating. I have wasted two trips there only to be told that I either arrived a week early for my appointment or missed it entirely, even though my original date and time were clearly written down. There are no appointment reminders (though Dr. Hutto's staff do call to confirm) and parking is difficult (garage code is no longer easily provided). Additionally, it feels disrespectful to be paired with a PA instead of a physician; if I wanted a non-doctor, I would request that type of visit. Not recommend. My son was referred here by his pediatrician because of issues he’s been having for months with swollen red and itchy eyes. After getting a blood test done a nurse called to tell me my son was allergic to NOTHING and that I didn’t need to make a follow up appointment because there was nothing they could do. After continuously advocating for my child, we got a referral to SC ENT where we were finally given answers and REAL results on my son’s allergies where he did indeed test positive for 22/34 environmental allergens.

Dr. Amrol is simply amazing! On our first visit, based on symptoms I told him and ones he saw for himself, he was able to start my son on a few medications and my son hasn’t had a breathing episode since that day. I am so glad that my son’s pediatrician referred us to him. After a 6 week follow up, he was still very patient, kind and informative. He didn’t rush us at all. Dr. Amrol was very attentive and thorough both times we saw him. The PA, Grayson Ford was great as well. She interacted with my son and was very patient as he asked a lot of questions. She spent an ample amount of time with us getting background information and asked very thorough questions as well. I highly recommend Dr. Amrol & Grayson Ford, PA!
