Dr. Ping Gu ‘s dedication and expertise saved my wife’s life from a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. We are lucky to be referred to him in late 2024 when my wife was found colon blockage during colonoscopy. Dr. Gu immediately arranged CT scan and was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer a few hours later . By that time it was evening and he told us to drive directly from south Jersey to New York City , the MSK emergency center . I hesitated because my wife look exhausted so I asked if the next morning would be ok? He told me bluntly NO ! Blockage has to be opened with stent as soon as possible otherwise it is a life threatening situation in days . I love Doctor Ping Gu from the first time i so him, on September 22, 2025. He is a caring and compassionate doctor who was genuinely concerned with helping me. He ordered some test to get some accurate test results and he even call me on a Sunday evening, to come in on Monday morning to see him.

We had a great experience for an initial consult. He took his time to explain the recommended treatment protocol. he made us laugh and cry we had a lot of conversations and he answered all of our questions. This was our second opinion from another doctor who recommended a different protocol, and we feel very confident to go with Dr. Gu and his team.

When diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer about 10 years ago, I was fortunate to have a team of doctors who saved my life and I'm still in remission today. When I was moving back to the east coast recently, naturally I was concerned about my oncology care and my doctor highly recommended I get to MSK. My local physician suggested trying to get an appointment with Dr. Gu. With luck on my side again, Dr. Gu was able to see and I'm here to say that I haven't lost one moments sleep wondering if I made the right decision. Agreed with previous negative comments . He is crude , rude and unprofessional . Does not advocate for patients . Walks in the room And stands one foot in the door and one out , doesn’t like questions and doesn’t like being questioned or pushed for blood work , cat scans or pet scans . I asked for pet scan never got it and I asked multiple times for keytruda and gene mutation blood work and he refused until my dad was on his death bed then he approved . Is he smart yes but arrogant . If I were do it over again I’d choice another cancer center
