There’s a young woman named Ariel — like the mermaid — who works in the lab and usually works weekends, especially Sundays, often caring for the entire hospital on her own. Every time my mother is admitted, Ariel consistently shows up with a positive attitude and a warm smile. She even jokes with us to lift our spirits during difficult moments. My mom is a very hard stick, and there are very few people who can get through to her when she’s in the hospital — but Ariel never disappoints. As a phlebotomist, she is incredibly skilled and gentle, which makes a big difference for patients like my mom. SURGICAL SERVICES ONLY! NEVER for ER due to -497 level of urgency. Anyways. Eryn in One Day Surgery was phenomenal in ensuring my comfort, communicating what I needed to do, was transparent on what my day in hospital would look like, and she did an AMAZING job explaining everything she was doing to the student shadowing her. She is a great example of what the standard for nursing professionalism needs to be. Martic and Tara were AMAZING at making me feel comfortable and relaxed once it was time for me to go back for surgery. The team for my surgery was top tier, thank you!

I recently had to be picked up by the ambulance for an emergency. It was a very scary time The ambulance showed up and I got very good care. Ryan and the other guy I think his name was Kayden were excellent and even followed up with me before he left for the day. Care at ORHC was excellent as well from the nurses to the doctors. Thank you ORHC! -R

My daughter was there in the evening for a severely sprained ankle. She was brought back within a few minutes, assessed by the nurses and provider, provided pain medication, received x-rays and discharge instructions all before I finished the registration process. Everyone was extremely nice and made sure we had everything we needed before we left, including ice bags and crutches.

My father in law was admitted on 10-5. He was misdiagnosed with a broken hip. They sent him to rehab for a minor fracture. Tried to make him do rehab with a broken hip. After he couldn’t stand they told him he was lazy and wasn’t even trying. He was then sent back to the ER. Where after complaining of pain and not being able to walk they FINALLY did an xray to find out it was his in fact broken. He’s now 3 weeks laying in bed with broken hip. Causing him to get blood clots. They transfer him to Iowa City to have surgery. After surgery he is released to Acute Rehab where he is to be treated and worked with to get mobility and strength back. He’s there 1.5 weeks to be released with a laminated certificate of completion of Acute Rehab. Still unable to bath or stand let alone take care of hims
