Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital Outpatient Lab

Used to be a great lab. I carry major insurance that I pay thousands of dollars for every year. Several of my doctors are located in this hospital. Today I came in early in the morning and was told they no longer operate as a regular lab, but as an outpatient hospital lab. For a regular patient, that means instead of paying $0 like before, I would now be billed around $500 toward my deductible for a basic metabolic panel and A1C — tests that cost about $60 total at a standard independent lab without using insurance. Customer service still great though. Beware!!

Love this Orlando Health location—it’s always clean and fast. Everyone is friendly and appointments are easy to make on the phone or in the MyChart app. As someone who doesn’t love needles, Sara put me at ease and got things done quick. Thank you!

Edited to 5 stars because the experience at the location could not have gone better. Check in staff was great and phlebotomist was exceptional! Original (pre experience): Phone number doesn’t work. No hours listed. Called the hospital operator twice. First time connected me to the actual lab techs office who didn’t know the hours of operation (I honestly didn’t expect them to, these are the lab technicians, not the phlebotomists). Second call transferred me to an unmanned guest services desk. Website say’s appointments can be made online. Negative. MyChar says appointments can be made in app. Also negative. I’ll be happy to change my review after actually using services but the appointment and information process is broken.
