Good doc. Fraudulent billing practices. A couple months after insurance / copay has been fully paid, get another set of bills for the exact same service. They fixed the error and zeroed out the balance. Then several months later (ie, now), received an even higher set of bills for the same service. Now they are looking into what happened. Basically, they keep charging for the same thing, even after everything has been paid in full to extort you for more $$.

Had an upper endoscopy performed here by Dr. Rita Knotts on 9/13/2023. Dr. Knotts is lovely, however, her/NYU's billing practice is anything but. Since then, I have learned that NYU overcharged and owed me a refund (which I had to spend 30 minutes on the phone to ASK them to process and refund, instead of them refunding automatically). On the physician side billing, the billing practices are spurious at best and would be called fraud anywhere else. I have phenomenal insurance and this was my third upper endo -- ie, this was not a new thing for me. Comparing the bill to my previous upper endos at other hospitals, I can see NYU vastly overcharges. I was admitted to NYU Hospital for gastrointestinal issues. I was assigned to Dr. Chang’s care during my 3 day hospitalization. Dr. Chang is very knowledgeable, caring and by far one the the best doctors I had dealings with in years. When I visited her office I was met by such caring professionalism from all her staff. I even had an issue a few weeks after my visit with Dr. Chang and even while she was on vacation took the time to help me with my issue. If you have any gastrointestinal issues I would recommend Dr. Chang 100 times over. She is the best!

Went to NYU emergency room back in June and was told to follow up with Dr. Chang here at NYU Gastroenterology. I made the appointment almost 1 month in advance (that's the soonest there was). The office left a voicemail just a few days before the appointment saying "your appointment has been canceled. Don't show up." Now I have to scramble to find another GI to treat my condition.

Like the other review, the staff is slow to return message. Called in the afternoon wanting to ask the dr's secretary a question. The operator said she has too much going on and told me to leave a message and that she will call back tmr. Ridiculous!!! It was something urgent. And on top of that the operator took the down/pass the wrong message. He couldn't even understand the simple medical terms. Don't understand why NYU hired such lazy incompetent people as their staff.
