Novant Health Urgent Care – Shandon (Formerly Doctors Care)

This facility is a complete waste of time and money. I clearly explained that I needed a prescription medication for lice after trying multiple over-the-counter options, yet the physician prescribed something I could have purchased myself. Paying $75 for that is unacceptable. And let’s not even start with the waiting time — it is ridiculous. This is my second time at this facility, even after they changed company names. My first experience was not good either, and unfortunately, nothing has improved. I will not be returning. I do not recommend this place to anyone looking for attentive and effective medical care.

Before I say anything, you have to remember this is urgent care. I don’t expect the same level of attention or time as my primary care provider visits. But every time I’ve needed an urgent (same day or next day) visit, this location has served us well. Dr. Goodwin is a great doctor. She spends what limited time she has asking questions and thinking about what could be ailing you. When necessary, she’s requested x-rays and bloodwork (with our approval). All of the nurses and reception staff are friendly as well, and they get it done. Again, this is urgent care. That means wait times may be long. But the level of care I have received has been exemplary. Shout out to Patrice for helping me with my bloodwork - I’m kind of a wuss. But she talked me through it!

We scheduled an appointment for 1100 for a sports physical. We arrived on time and were told that the front desk staff called out and the medical staff were trying to manage the clinic without a receptionist/admin person. The staff were friendly and professional but clearly stressed. We waited an hour and a half. It was clear that staff either had not been given or had not been trained on a contingency plan for management of the office if no administrative person was at the desk. I asked if there was someone in management I could contact to provide feedback and was told that they did not have a number. I have visited this clinic multiple times under the previous management and never had a negative experience

I came to this facility after 2 p.m. and did not leave until after 5 p.m.. I came in with a 3 yr. old with symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, cough, and my I may have left off the other symptoms. My child always had a fever over the weekend with sneezing and unwillingness to eat. Now I understand patients with appointments may came first but there where patients being seen before my child who where walk-ins just like my child. Mind you my child was the only toddler or person of youth in the facility at those hours. My 3 yr old was not seen until after 4:35 p.m. I ask the "nurse" at the reception desk a simple question. "How long will it be before my child is seen? We've been in here for a while and my son is hungry, he hasn't eaten anything yet. -Mind whom reading this; my child had the runs

I recently was diagnosed with thrush then a UTI after a sinus surgery I had in September. Dr. Berg was incredible. She is knowledgable as well as a kind person. Everyone I encountered, Cassidy at the front desk and Carolyn the MS, were professional and helpful. I am grateful this practice is available.
