Northwestern Medicine Primary Care Geneva

I haven’t seen a primary doctor in years due to having to take care of my mom who had terminal cancer. She passed last year and I desperately needed to see someone for help with my depression and the additional effects of years worth of heartbreak. I had some insurance issues but I made it known that I would be covered prior to the appointment. I took PTO to go to the appointment just for me to realize the appointment was cancelled hours before. I called shortly after realizing to be met with someone talking to me in the most condescending tone possible. I was told off for not calling back with my insurance information a week or two before the appointment (even though insurance retroactively covers things if it isn’t applied prior to the visit). The people and doctors at FVFP are the best. Unfortunately they are now under the NW medicine umbrella. Any call for any reason takes literally hours to be answered. "Press 1 and the next available agent will call you back" NEVER! NW is the absolute worst. I've been trying to schedule surgery and NW medicine has made itnext to impossible. They want approval from a list of doctors and then make it excruciatingly difficult to get that approval. I've made countless calls into the Northwestern system and chosen the option to have someone call back many times. Not once has that happened, not once. No one has ever replied to my request for a return call. The office/nursing staff at every office i visit tells me they are aware of the problems but NW chooses to do nothing about it.

I had to spend 5 months getting into this practice with Dr wen who was highly recommended. Once I saw her, she was so incredibly amazing (and her own medical staff) and spent so much time with me on first visit. Today? I interacted with a particularly awful receptionist and I would highly recommend that she be fired. I have never been so disrespected or made to feel awful as she was to me. Hideous woman! Dr Wen requested that I get my records from my past GP (Dr Kenneth Liesen) who was a truly respected doctor in the SC/Geneva area. He died! When I handed my records to this receptionist, I explained that my GP had died and Dr Wen requested these documents. She touched the folder (slightly worn as Dr Liesen did not have electronic records) as it was a disgusting pile of records and awful

Last couple times I was seen for check-ups I felt pretty “brushed-off” and doctors seem to literally shrug and suggest issues that have been ongoing for months will hopefully go away on their own. More recently I can’t see someone when I am sick. The doctor appointments are weeks out. Urgent/immeadiate care says no appointments and to try virtual. Virtual appointments say there are none available and to try an in-office visit. This was the same a month ago when my toddler was quite sick outside of doctors office hours. We feel like we are on our own.

I have been going to this location for 17 years. Since the NW takeover service provided by my GP and office staff has been horrible. I can’t get through on the phone and have to leave messages to the NW answering service with no call backs. My doctor is now rude and doesn’t do her job. I had my annual physical recently and I wasn’t even weighed in. I’m having difficulty getting my prescriptions and that’s the final straw. Getting new GP.
