North Knoxville Medical Center - Emergency Room

At first I thought my stay was okay. This was also my first stay at any hospital. Honestly some people were nice. I first went to the er everyone there was nice well i quickly got admitted. First night was okay, I had a great nurse and everyone was kind. Well the second night was okay. It wasn’t until the second day. My iv was slightly sore which I was told was normal fine okay. Well later on I was being given a blood transfusion, and some of the blood starts leaking out of the iv and pooling into my bandage around my iv. I called the nurse into the room to ask her if that’s normal and she said yes and that we would talk about changing it later. Well let’s just say there was no talking about it. The night shift came in and I asked her if it was normal and she said no so she changed it. Wel

I would have given my experience 4 stars but I had a terrible experience with a lady that works in the ER. My son had a bad reaction to a new medicine and was experiencing serotonin syndrome. The ER was so full that patients were lined up in beds along the hallways. Just after he got settled in a bed a new patient was placed right behind him. The patient was in terrible pain and said he could not physically climb in the bed so he was placed in a chair about 2 feet away from my son’s head while coughing horribly and not wearing a mask. I asked a lady that was restocking rooms and changing bedsheets if we could please move my son’s bed away from the sick patient’s coughing. She replied “what do you expect? You are in the ER!” She said she would ask the charge nurse and she came back and said

Over the years I’ve been hesitant to go to Tennova North despite living so close to the hospital. In the past the wait times were very long, patients sometimes had to wait in the hallways and I’d personally experienced lack of concern or effort from staff. This past Monday I was so sick and in a lot of pain that I didn’t care which hospital we went to, I just wanted help. I was very pleasantly surprised by the response and care that I received from Tennova North. The reception, triage (Angie), nursing staff (Tori & Dina), imaging staff (Josh) and even the physician who took care of me (Dr. Schroeder) were all excellent. They showed genuine concern, took great care of me, worked quickly and did what seemed to me like everything necessary to get answers and results. I am very grateful for th

The doctors and the nursing staff were absolutely incredible and helped me laugh during a very scary time. The only reason for 4 stars instead of five is because the front desk lady at the check in was incredibly rude. Not only to me but to others in the waiting room. There was a mother asking to see her 17 year old daughter who had been brought in via ambulance and the front desk was snappy and rude to her when she asked to go see her. I work in health care, specifically in administration, if that were my front desk, she would be fired. I know everyone has a personal life and other things going on but, going into this type of work, there is a level of professionalism and compassion expected.

This was the best experience I’ve ever had with AJ emergency room. They listened to my issues, they diagnosed, they sympathized and they treated me. Norvovirus with a flare up of colitis. I went alone and it was my first time being by myself at the emergency room. They took such good care of me and I’m thankful I went. I got iv fluids due to the dehydration, they gave me anti nausea and some pain medicine through my IV, and sent me home with 4 medications that have helped relieve my symptoms so I could get back to work and everyday life. I will continue to go to this hospital for any emergent need. Thank you for being such good people and helping me. ♥️
