The worst place ever! Not only is it filthy in there the people are rude and dismissive is doesn’t feel like a place of help and service more like a place of delay and despair. I waited three hours to be called in from The waiting area to wait another 4 hours just for pain killers and more pain killers, when I finally got my Scan it was met with rude and no proper direction. I just sad their in tears I helped and exhausted. Once I got the scan I had to then wait until the scan was looked at by an anonymous person who schedule was jammed packed. All the while the people who worked their entertained one another leaving sickly people to fin for themselves. If you don’t fight for help they will leave you their to rot. no one working their is good, it’s a place where healthcare goes to die. The
Majella St Brice RN Night shift was my Nurse I’m 72 and was treated with so much kindness and attention. These Nurse is what keeps me coming back Debra Harmon 🙏 also would like to give my thanks to the people who help as well always with a smile Brittney you also amazing a keeper.
My mother was admitted for over two months in the Oncology Floor : Hudson 6 North and during that time we experienced the full range of what long-term hospitalization can bring fear, hope, exhaustion, and gratitude. Through it all, the staff who cared for her made a tremendous difference. From the moment she arrived, the nurses, CNAs, and support staff treated her with patience, dignity, and compassion. They not only managed her medical needs, which were complex and constantly changing, but they also supported her emotionally on the harder days. As a family member who was there every day, I truly saw how much effort it takes to care for a patient long-term, and I’m extremely grateful for their consistency and kindness. Communication from the medical team was generally clear and responsiv
Third World Care at NYP My 82 year-old mother came in by ambulance on 10/1/2025. There were some ER staff who were helpful. She waited 3 days to be admitted to the acute care unit in the Milstein Building. She has yet to see a doctor. We, the family are receiving conflicting messages. We were told she was medically cleared for discharge and then we were told she was being admitted. I still don't know what they found regarding her condition. We, the family are in the dark, despite attempts to get answers. The nurses are attentive and warm; however they are not doctors so there is only so much they can do. I've been in healthcare and public health for three decades, so I know how hospitals work and it has been my experience that some doctors fancy themselves to have rock star status - forget
As a family member, I am deeply grateful to the head nurse, Mary Escalante, of the ICU dept. at Columbia University Medical Center. When we approached her after a difficult experience with a nurse, she responded with kindness and a warm smile and personally took care of the issue. She listened attentively, resolved the situation, and reassured us that she was there for anything we needed. She also gave us her card and encouraged us to reach out at any time. Her compassion and professionalism meant so much to our family during a very stressful time.
