I’d give zero stars if this was a possibility. The NICU experience that myself, husband, and daughter had was cruel and unnecessary. I originally thought we were in good hands as this NICU was a level 4. I should have researched further as they didn’t even reach the top 50 in the country. My daughter was born at 28 weeks and the doctors and nurses made it out to see that it would be a cake walk. Now, I was expecting a hiccup here and there fully knowing that there would be a few snafus along the way. My daughter was doing beautifully until her intestine ruptured. Very scary for us parents although the NICU attendants made it out to be a common occurrence in newborns and assured us that it would heal on its own (via drain) and if it wasnt draining, and getting worse, surgery would step in
Please, Mom & Dad, be careful. They have excellent doctor & and a great team, but there are a couple of nurses who are only there for a paycheck, with no education, empathy, kindness, and knowledge. I had a problem with a nurse who yelled at me without explanation they telling g me to shut up because age needed silence to concentrate because if she will get it trouble with her boss for not doing things right with some cables when the only thing I said "out loud" was hi baby! Oh, before that she puss me away. After giving my complaints, she came back with a fake apology.
I have no words to describe how grateful I am to the doctors and nurses. They are very professional.
The Mount Sinai nicu is amazing! The staff is super friendly and highly knowledgeable. They go the extra mile to make certain you understand every step that is taken. They highly encourage breastfeeding, as well as make sure you have the resources to do so. Everyone has taken such great care with our baby!
Do not have your baby here they will not encourage you to breastfeed they will be rude to you when you want to take your baby home when she reaches the milestones they give her to go home and when you spend the day with your baby in the nicu they treat you as if you are in the way!!
