MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Downtown

Lord please be with every patient at this location. If you have a love one here, please stay to ensure they have proper care and the employees do their jobs and not their phones. We had to constantly get a tech, nurse to help our Grandmother. We understood they are short staff but if they had time to communicate with each other in a group, scroll through their phones, then they had time to be with a patient in need. Do WAY BETTER MUSC- 5TH FLOOR.. It was our Love One this time, they would want the same care we wanted for ours...

This hospital was wonderful. My mom came in and was admitted to inpatient hospice on the 4th floor. Every nurse and staff member was amazing. Keeping mom comfortable and checking in to be sure the family was doing okay and if we needed anything. They truly helped make my mom's transition easier for her and for us as well. My mom had a spinal surgery here and spent the night. Her doctor was wonderful, along w all of her nurses. One thing I’d like to point out is how friendly the entire staff is. Everywhere I went I was greeted w a smile. This is very hard to find. The food in the cafeteria is awesome too.

This is the absolute WORST Hospital I’ve ever experienced! My sister was a patient here ( we’re from FLA ) where were use to great medical care apparently SC is very different . We’re talking basic .. very basic care you will NOT get it here . The PA was rude I wanted to slap her ! Literally wondering why she chose to go to school to be in Medical care with an ice cube for a heart! My sister was sent there blood sugar super high, blood pressure high , dangerously high and still sent home not even kept for observation . I know that nurses / PAs only have do much control over things they do but your ATTITUDE IS controllable ! You can act like you care and not say things like “ We don’t have any beds anyway “ with blood sugar in the 500s and blood pressure in the 200’s . Do not go there ! Thi

This was by far the worst care I have ever received. Nurses were incompetent, made mistakes that could’ve been detrimental to someone’s life. Had to wait hours for medication. I was there five days in my room was never cleaned once. Because of this, I signed myself out AMA … If you have a choice to go somewhere else, please do so. Sidenote: My doctors that are affiliated with his hospital are wonderful. It was the Care while admitted that was under subpar. As I said, I was supposed to be transported to MUSC Charleston, but after my experience in Columbia, I didn’t dare go there. Hope this helps someone else.
