I have been coming to Mondovi Dental for many years. While I was very happy for Dr. Maisel when he retired, I was understandably a little concerned about transitioning to a dentist who had never treated me before. I recently had my first appointment with Dr. Maria Katalan and am pleased to say she was fantastic. She has an excellent bedside manner, made me feel completely at ease, and took the extra time to thoroughly explain everything to me. I also want to recognize the entire team, from the front desk staff to the hygienists and assistants. They have always been incredibly warm, welcoming, and friendly. I was a patient of Dr. Maisel for many years. Since he retired I’ve not been happy with the practice. On a recent visit they told me I had a cracked molar and needed a crown. I had the work done. When placing the final crown I told them I was having nerve pain and they basically told me I would just have to deal with it, that it’s normal. No offer of Novocain. The final straw was a cleaning visit that was just a massive sales pitch. I was told I needed another crown for another cracked molar (based on photos taken, not an x-ray), was told I was grinding and needed a retainer and mouth guard (no history of grinding), and finally that I have gum disease and need quarterly periodontal “deep cleanings” despite having had zero issues or warnings before. It honestly felt like a big money grab. I
