Meritus Health

This was our first visit to Meritus Hospital in Hagerstown. We chose Meritus over Frederick Health Hospital due to its direct integration with Johns Hopkins medical records, which we believed would be beneficial for continuity of care. Unfortunately, we had to bring our 10-month-old daughter in this December due to a persistent high fever of 103°F accompanied by nonstop vomiting. Given the fluid loss and our inability to control or identify the cause of the fever despite regular dosing, we felt an emergency visit was necessary. Upon arrival, her vitals were taken promptly; however, we were then asked to sit and wait. We waited from approximately 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. without being seen by a provider. The Dr's and nurses are fantastic. I've had a few issues with their administration team- with the referrals not being transferred in a timely manner and having to cancel appointments. Note to others who are reliant on referrals- call to check that the referral is there before you go!

If you come to the ER as a walk in... its gonna suck. Got here at 920pm... still here at 0433am... if you gotta come e here call an ambulance you get seen faster and out in a reasonable amount of time. Do not leave the waiting room to use the bathroom! If they call your name and you don't answer that's +45 minutes on your visit. The chairs in the waiting area seem to be designed to be uncomfortable as possible... registration is hysterical, if someone brings you in, they have to register as a visitor before you get seen... new procedures... someone seriously overcomplicated the whole process. Don't have to do that if you call an ambulance... the take away... AVOID WALKING INTO THE ER!!!! CALL AN AMBULANCE!!!! At least until they get their shit together. Good luck! Update.... 0527am...

This place is clean and well-staffed. Their slogan is "Happy to help," and they live up to that. Everyone was so kind, gentle, and professional. They took such good care of my mom!

I had a hip replacement. the nurses, doctors, and all the caring staff took very good care of me. I felt safe and cared for. This is the best hospital I have ever been to. even when things went sideways they took care of me. they eased my worries and I was just fine. Good to know when something goes wrong they step up and take care of it. Meritus is making hospitals great again.
