Terrible experiencing bringing a family member in to ER/ Medical floor 5. Noted multiple instances of nurses breaking HIPAA (not to clarify patient information even, but rather, to mock the patient). I witnessed nurses on their phones discussing personal matters rather than being attentive to their patients. Multiple infection control violations were also documented. A few instances of Nurses that came in with discrepant charting information (where one plan was stated during one round and then the plan was communicated completely differently in another round, with no clarity about this when asked) and I can note one instance where medication that the patient did not consume was documented. Kayla, the “provider” seemed like she hated her job and was very unpleasant when inquiring about the
A family friend of mine had a terrible experience in the ED and med/surg departments this past week. The nurses have absolutely no bedside manner and can't get through a med pass without messing up the dosage and documentation -- they put in her chart that a certain medication was administered and turns out they forgot to give it to her. This was only figured out when the patient's daughter, who works in healthcare, asked her mother to describe what the medication she took looked like. I can't imagine being a patient here if I were alone, confused, or spoke limited English because there is no effort whatsoever to make them feel like they're actually being well taken care of do notttt come here
A family friend of mine was treated in this hospital’s ED and later the Med/Surg unit this past week, and the experience was extremely concerning. There were concerns about medication management, documentation accuracy, and overall attention to patient care. There were also moments that suggested a lack of professionalism and basic compliance with privacy and safety standards, and interactions with public safety staff made the patient feel uncomfortable and more distressed while she was already in a vulnerable state. It was upsetting to see someone seeking medical help leave feeling unheard and traumatized, and it makes you wonder how a patient without an advocate present would manage in this environment.
Today, January 29, Thursday, I visited Melrose-Wakefield, Nuclear, for a stress test. It involved nearly 3 hours of intense testing. I was greatly assisted my Mark who oversaw the technical details and a wonderful lady named Crystal who walked me through the procedure and handled a great part of it with assistance from her co-workers. The professionalism and care these workers was overwhelming. This team of professionals did their utmost to make me feel comfortable and demonstrated great care in tending to me. By early afternoon I was phoned by my Cardiologist, Dr. Megan Whelton at Melrose-Wakefield, to inform me test went well and she’s willing to clear me for a bit of surgery in mid February. What an amazing team of professionals in this hospital. They’re the best in New England.
A loved one of mine had to present to the Melrose Wakefield emergency room recently and spend some time on the medical floor. I work in healthcare myself, and have never been SO appalled by the complete lack of quality of care provided to patients. There were significant and apparent violations to HIPAA and OSHA, discrepancies and inconsistencies in medical documentation, and a general unwillingness by the healthcare team to engage in productive and compassionate conversations with patients and their families. I have never heard of a situation in which the care team so blatantly disregarded questions and concerns, to the point in which a promise of speaking to a "supervisor" resulted in a deceitful encounter with public safety. Even the behavior of public safety was disappointing - they ac
