Medicap Pharmacy

We are new to Medicap due to Walgreens being unable to keep their Urbandale pharmacy staffed. Kailey is the head pharmacist here and has gone above and beyond in our first couple months at Medicap. Even so far as to source a med that was back-ordered from a Medicap in Stuart and have it picked up and delivered to this store. I appreciate it!

This place was terrific under Mr Forbes and his staff. Ownership changed (maybe a year ago now) and I only see one face from that crew still there. For some reason, new ownership did not maintain continuity of service. My wife and I have had issue after issue - prescriptions allowed to lapse (multiple times and reactive rather than proactive), had all prescriptions synched up to be picked up in one trip but this ended a long time ago and I think may finally be coming back and other issues. The level of competency and service is well below what it had been. Frankly, I’m not sure why we’re still going there.

I have used Medicap pharmacy since growing up in Kansas. John was the best pharmacist ever and I felt his and his staff's concern when I was there. Since he left, his pharmacy is not the same. I feel like my customer care is not their priority. And the communication I receive has not proven to be accurate on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, I will not use Medicap going forward.

** update. officially switched back to Walgreens. The last straw was having to wait 4 full business days for Omeprazole only to be given someone else's bottle. I really WANTED to use a smaller pharmacy, but I'm not willing to endure this level of service degredation ** I tried switching to Medicap from Walgreens, and things have not gone well. To be sure, sometimes the doctors office is to blame. But they don't appear to communicate when a prescription is ready for pickup. Recently I tried to refill a prescription for something super common and they've been "too busy" to get it done. They had all day yesterday and most of the day today. I switched to Medi Cap on the recommendation of one of my providers. After about 3 months, I am switching back to my old pharmacy. They have no online system to request refills, and having to call to refill my initial prescriptions being a new customer, the person answering the phone was “not at a computer” but promised my prescriptions would be ready the next day. They in fact were not ready and had no record if them being requested. The last straw was that they suggested that I switch a medication simply because they couldn’t “find” it, when my prior pharmacy was filling it for years with no issues. Looking at other reviews it looks like they switched ownership and others are having the same issues. Would not recommend unless you like wasting time picking up prescriptions that aren
