Meadows at Brookmeade (FKA The Baptist Home)

I can't speak highly enough about this facility and its staff. My brother was on Dove wing for 8 mths, until he passed away January 3, 2026. He was in 3 other facilities before the Baptist. I got him on the waiting list and they called me as soon as they had availability. I fought to get him here but it was worth the wait and the fight. The nurses, aides and office staff knew my brother by name. They treated him like a human being. He knew he was dying, he was scared, sad and sometimes angry. He was not an easy patient and still the people here had compassion and patience. When he complained about one of the other patients walking into his room confused, they didn't think twice. I’ve had two family members at The Meadows at Brookmeade, and I wouldn’t want them anywhere else. Brookmeade truly goes above and beyond the daily duties of care. The staff doesn’t just meet needs – they find ways to make residents and families feel comfortable and their compassion shines bright in everything they do. The staff are wonderful and everyone has a smile to give, and I loved that The Pavilion has a café where we could enjoy a meal together and change the scenery for my family. It’s the little things the staff does that made all the difference in my loved ones’ stay. We all know the world has its struggles, but having them at Brookmeade gave me peace of mind. A family member was in rehab at Meadows at Brookmeade for a few weeks. We have mixed feelings about the facility and staff. The PTs, OTs, and Speech staff were excellent! However, whether short staffed or not, no patient should have to wait more than an hour for assistance with the bathroom, and have to sit in soiled clothing. If we were not there daily from 9 to 5, we feel that our loved one would have been left alone much too long. The facility didn't even provide tissues, and extra napkins. Wheelchair and bed ridden patients were not given a pitcher of water daily. The food is average and there are some nice programs for those who are able to wheel themselves down to The Egg. My mother-in-law had advanced Alzheimer's, and during this difficult time, the staff at Brookmeade were nothing short of exceptional. In the two years she lived there, the nursing team treated her with such kindness and compassion, always preserving her dignity, even when confusion took over. Although she often didn’t recognize where she was, her own name, or even the names of the staff, she could always tell who had been kind to her. Her face would light up when she saw familiar, friendly faces, a reminder of the safe and caring environment they provided. In the end, she passed peacefully, surrounded by nurses and staff who made her final moments as comfortable as possible.
