I had stepped on a catfish barb and it lodged in my foot. The local walk in clinics were closed so I went to the emergency room for treatment. I walked into the empty waiting room and explained my issue and that I did not have insurance. After 15 mins of information gatheringand waiting 40 mins, I was off to the examining room. The Dr. came in and easily removed the barb and left the room never to be seen again. I got my tetnus shot and a Rx for antibiotic. 2 weeks later I get a hospital bill for $2,150.00 and a separate bill for the doctor for an additional $2000.00 There is no reason why a simple procedure should ever cost so much. The hospital should not hide their costs from patients. $4,150.00 is the result of a sham!
