Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital

We have lived full time in Mountain Ranch since 2017 and we have had to go to the ER several times over the years. We have always received prompt and professional care, and a couple of times were life saving for my wife and brother-in-law. My brother-in-law was properly diagnosed by a very competent doctor whereas his primary care doctor in another town failed to do so. It saved his life. My wife was properly and quickly diagnosed with pulmonary embolisms and received immediate lifesaving treatment before being transferred to Saint Josephs in Stockton for removal of clots from her lungs. We are fortunate to have such a facility as Mark Twain in this county.

My 81 year old father battling cancer in his lungs, kidneys and spine was brought in for falling out of bed, I begged them to help him for one night until I could get hospice set up for him and was told no. The doctor straight told me I had to get him out of the hospital because he didn’t “meet the criteria” to stay and that meant the hospital wouldn’t get paid. Horrible, disgusting and heartless staff working for a company interested in money not patients. Do no harm my butt.

Literally no treatment whatsoever. Have a smashed foot. Dr xray and says not broken, offers no solution no treatment. Tell me basically I'm good to go. Ya im not though, that's why I came in. I voiced my frustration and a nurse said we'll I guess I can wrap it or did you want cruches? Oh gee thanks, why do that though? Just for fun? Dr says I'm all good. I wouldn't come in for nothing I literally hate dr.s for this reason. Waste of money, and I'll be getting a 2nd opinion. I doubt Dr even reviewed xray properly. I can't believe the experience I just had. I mean it's not like they were busy or anything either. Truly disappointed.

Some staff are better than others but the majority are negligent, do not take concerns seriously and will discharge you after giving minimal care. I went to the Emergency room multiple times for having incredibly painful and inflamed tonsils to the point of difficulty breathing and swallowing, yet i was told to take OTC pain meds, and had to insist to be given fluids and antibiotics. Even the care I insisted on getting was incredibly slow and inadequate, i mostly laid in a hospital bed in misery and pain until i left against medical advisory to receive better care at a different hospital

We unfortunately had to make two trips to our local ER this month and I have to say both experiences were shockingly bad. My fiancé came in with a severe wound on his leg and their biggest concern was making him stand there and get his temperature and didn’t even look at him till about an hour and a half later. He even asked the nurse for something to put his leg on and she said “I guess”( like she was annoyed) which is awful because giving someone something small like that to help relieve their pain should not be an annoyance! During my stay, I could hear the nurses and even on occasion the doctors talking poorly about the patients , mocking one woman for calling the ambulance for breathing problems and saying, “my wife had an aneurysm and didn’t even call the ambulance”!!
