Kindred Hospital New Jersey - Morris County

My father was recently admitted to Kindred Hospital, and I can’t say enough good things about the care he received. The team there worked diligently to get him off the ventilator and truly whipped him into shape, helping him regain his strength and independence. They have a great team that made all the difference during a challenging time. A huge thank you to all the nurses, doctors, the PT staff, Dominic, Victoria, Gabbi, Leitji, Hazel and Ingrid—you were all incredible. The entire staff is delightful, dedicated, patient, professional, and compassionate, going above and beyond to make us feel supported and cared for. If you’re in need of specialized long-term care, I highly recommend Kindred Hospital. They turned a tough situation into a positive recovery journey!

These people do not care about their patients. Do not send your family here especially if they have any actual ICU level health problems. Complete lack of care and compassion. Dr. Poon, one of their lead doctors is terrible. Nursing manager Sharon is awful. This LTACH facility is run horribly. Seems like it was better in years past but has definitely gotten worse in the last year or two at least. Some of the nurses act like you're bothering them by just trying to find out what's going on with the patient. Nursing assistants were okay, respiratory therapists, maybe 1 good one, the rest you never see and can't be bothered to discuss anything with family. The communication in this place is awful, you can only talk to the doctor on rounds once a week, the rest of the days you're not allowed to

Kindred's care model is flawed, as there are only two doctors in charge of care... Dr. Poon or Dr. Grella. Dr. Grella would be a better choice for those advocating for themselves, or for a loved one. They only recently upgraded to tracking health care through an electronic format where results can be seen by those taking care of their loved ones. Prior to that, it was one point of contact only who could discuss anything with anyone, and if you were there on a holiday or weekend, no one would be available to speak or get information, so leave a message and maybe they'll get back to you. The good: Some nurses do seem like they care. Some nursing assistants (who do a majority of the work) are helpful and caring. The staff at Kindred is very compassionate and you can see that they really care about you and all their patients. Hazel was very nice to talk to and the CNA's Jessica and Christiana. Bridgette is also very nice and helpful. She is always there to get me whatever I need. The doctors are very gentle and kind.

The care I received at Kindred was absolutely phenomenal! All the staff were top notch. From the doctors to the cafeteria to the janitorial staff, I was treated like family . As for the nurses, they went well above and beyond, I can’t say enough about the Nurses and CNA’s. I would highly recommend this facility hands down. Thank you for caring and taking great care of me. I appreciate all of you!
