IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital

Overall care was decent during my recent knee replacement. I'd say my experience with the staff was mixed. Nurse Stephanie was great and really showed she cared. Monica from pt was also exceptional as was Amy from the kitchen. That being said, Nurse Bemi didn't seem particularly sympathetic and only gave the minimum of care. Aide Zoey was the same way...not particularly helpful. My provider, Dr. Cieply and his PA, Curtis, were great. This was my second joint replacement with them, and they are great.

The wait time was long, but I was not a high acuity patient and completely understood. I was still in and out with testing in about 3 hours. I was triaged and had labs drawn immediately which was awesome and significantly shortened my visit. The staff were absolutely amazing, they were compassionate and efficient. I noticed that they treated other patients in the waiting room respectfully and patiently. I never felt like I was bothering them and the doctor was very willing to answer my questions and explain what was happening to me. It makes such a difference to be treated with kindness when you’re suffering. You guys are doing fantastic work, thank you.

Very nice hospital. Lots of free parking, including a garage and valet. Everywhere looked clean and well kept. The greeters (info desk) people are always so friendly and accommodating. They will greet you before you even reach them. All the staff I have experienced were warm and friendly, including my doctor. I highly recommend this hospital and clinics to everyone.

Yesterday at approximately 12:45 PM, my friend and I arrived at the Ball Memorial Hospital Emergency Room after she vomited blood earlier that day. She is 11 weeks pregnant, a first-time, young African American mother, and was clearly in distress. About 15 minutes after checking in, they took her vitals. We then waited an additional 40 minutes before someone came to draw her blood. The staff member who drew her blood did not know what she was doing, stuck her in the wrong place, punctured her vein, and caused her significant pain to the point that she started crying. Afterward, this same staff member charted that an IV had been placed, but no IV was ever inserted, and she never received fluids. We then waited over four more hours. During this entire time, my friend continued throwing up

I had my hip replacement with Dr. Anthony McPherron and his wonderful surgical crew and it went fantastic and still going fantastic. One week to the day and no issue whatsoever, began to swell a day or so ago but of course that's too be expected with a major surgery. Just a great experience and don't regret it at all and looking forward for my left hip replacement on April.
