I had an extremely distressing and unacceptable experience at this office during a wisdom tooth appointment. After being seated, the surgeon administered multiple shots of numbing injections with no communication, no warning, and no pauses. There was no explanation of what was being done or how many injections to expect. I was actively asking what was happening and requesting a break, but those requests were ignored. I became overwhelmed to the point of crying. I could not breathe through my nose due to the crying, was choking on mucus, and felt completely out of control in the chair. I have mixed feelings about my experience with Ideal Dental in Smyrna. The staff has always been very friendly and welcoming, and the dentist I saw most recently was kind and seemed knowledgeable. However, I’m kinda disappointed in how my care was handled months ago and the outcome since then. I originally went in to have cavities filled. I was pregnant at the time and was numbed twice while waiting, which already wasn’t ideal. After all that, the dentist came in and said they weren’t sure they could fill the cavities and referred me to an endodontist. The endodontist confirmed that I only needed the cavities filled — which was the plan all along. Got me in the next day for a chipped tooth. Everyone was friendly and compassionate. The dentist did an excellent job on the repair and squeezed in a few other fillings while I was there. I appreciate their kindness, quick delivery and compassion.
