Hunterdon Hospital EMS

Terrible wait time! It's a Thursday night! They're waiting for beds to become available. It took my infant an hour to be seen be triage, now we've been waiting 80 minutes for a room! An ambulance came in about 30 minutes after us, EMT escorted them to the waiting area & even that patient is still waiting. Triage saw them about 20 minutes prior to us. Never again. I hope this is worth it. I didn't want to come, it's not ER visit worthy, but my son's pediatrician told us to go. They called ahead & I figured we'd be taken back soon!

Last night I came in for a kidney stone. I was told that they would get me a bed soon after I saw the triage nurse. Waited an hour. Notified the front staff that I was in severe pain. I was throwing up in the waiting area and was full lying down on the ground seething in pain- barely able to get up. Found out that there are not beds available after 90 minutes. Begged to be helped. Receptionist didn’t care. No sympathy whatsoever. Then find out that they have been backed for the past no 3 days with no beds. The only thing they were concerned about was that I was throwing up in a waste bin in the waiting room and sent a janitor to change out the bin- Not that I was lying on the ground in agony right in front of them. Dr. Michael Prendergrast was exceptional. Excellent bedside manner. Made me feel safe and less anxious and was friendly, smiling, and very thorough. The nurses were great as well! It was the best ER experience of doctors and nurses thus far.

Going to the emergency room.... always a difficult situation, and the people working here are super humans if you ask me. I have been here probably 8 times in the last 7 years for both my parents and this time for myself. My experience, Jan, 2025 was fine, I was checked in quickly, had vitals after about 30 minutes, and resting in a bed after about 1 hours.... Appendix was verified after a cat scan and doctor visit at midnight after arriving at 9pm on a Thursday.... Everyone has been helpful and listened to my questions...

I had an amazing experience with this Hospital and there entire Staff and Medical teams and they didn't miss anything being sure to keep an almost continuous conversation about my upcoming tests and asking if I had any questions or concerns at every step of the process and in a time of cold robotic teams this emergency room had warm inviting people and top of the line doctors that are able to listen . After recent experiences I was so glad I came to this hospital. Thank you
