Heywood Orthopedics

my husband went in and saw dr. Szuciak.. i was less than inpressed with how that appointment went. My husband was sent to haywood ortho to have his knee looked after being at the er days earlier. We were in and out in under 15 min. No new x-ray, no MRI, no brace nothing... just a very non chalant (for the amount of discomfort expressed by my husband) dr. Szuciak.. please be aware this is not the place to go. We will be seeking a second opinion A.S.A.P

I had a wonderful experience fr9m beginning to end at Heywood hospital for my hip replacement surgery. Dr. Toman was fantastic and I had a very fast recovery. Within 4 days of the surgery I was in significantly less pain then I was before the procedure . (I had put the surgery off for way too long and am really sorry I waited so long before opting to have the surgery). The staff could.not have been more lovely and the o.r. staff and nurses treated my care as their priority rather than being surly and behaving as if anything they might HAVE to do for me was an irritating obstacle in their to-do list for the day.

If I could give no stars, I would. My husband came to them on a Friday with a broken arm that they "have sent an emergency referral for surgery" to UMass. Because they supposedly do not perform that surgery there at Heywood. We had to start calling UMass on Monday, there was no referral, no xrays or documentation sent to them by Heywood. So now he's scheduled on Wednesday at UMass for a consultation rather than the surgery he should be having. Heywood is garbage.

Dr. Toman is great, a majority of the staff I had interactions with were great, however, when it comes to communication with the office and getting help with the simplest thing as a doctors note, it’s a nightmare. When communicating through the portal it says you will here back from someone within 2 days, I’m assuming business days. Well eight days later I finally get a response advising me the office protocol is 7-10 business days turnaround for all paperwork in the order in which it was received. Well, I asked for a doctors note on the 20th, as I needed it for my insurance company until I could get all the necessary forms completed which would take longer. ( I also made 2 calls to the office during this time in which I was told someone would get back to me and that didn’t happen either.

Michael Szuciak was wonderful and very understanding and took the time to listen to our concerns. Michael Szuciak spoke and treated my daughter with care and respect. Highly recommend him for all of your orthopedic needs. The whole office was wonderful from the secretary to his nurse also.
