HCA Florida South Shore Hospital Emergency Room

Worst experience ever. I was taken in by a nurse with no wristband. They were quick to ask for my insurance info to bill me, but after that I waited two hours to see a doctor (which I understand since there were two emergency cases before me). A nurse came in, drew blood, and left. Later, I needed to use the bathroom. My wife pressed the staff assistance button, and another nurse ( Shanaci I think was her name ) came in, upset why we pressed the button, unhooked half of my equipment, yelled at my wife for pressing the button, and told me to hook myself back up when I got back. That same nurse later returned to give me a pain shot and asked for my wristband, which I had never been given. At that point, I did not trust them to give me anything. I asked to see the doctor and told him honestly

My husband was taken to the ER by ambulance and I arrived a short time afterwards. All rooms were full so he was in the hallway but I was still taken back to sit with him, was given a chair and he and I were regularly checked on, given updates on what they were doing, and asked if we needed anything. Everyone we came in contact with was attentive and kind. He was admitted to 2nd floor and during his 5 day stay found that everyone from housekeeping to doctors were polite, helpful, and friendly. Nurses and Aids were exceptional.

My husband came into the ER in critical condition. The care he received to save his life was so professional and caring. There was a young male nurse who was a Navy Corpsman, my husband was also in the Navy. His name was Travirus. He never left his side. He said “he is my brother!” This statement hit my heart hard! Wonderful care and tremendous caring staff!

Had a quick visit here. I love that it’s close to home. I was taken care of quickly. My nurse JC had a very calming and kind personality. I really needed that. Dr. Ksaibati was also very calming and thorough. I was definitely in good hands and left feeling reassured. Thank you! This is a great addition to NRR!

If I could rate the er experience with a negative 100, I definitely would. However the nursing staff on the 2nd floor in PCU were ABSOLUTELY phenomenal. HCA er in Sun City Center, Florida is awful. They do not care about their patients only about a check. Dr. Ren completely disregarded our concerns. We found out that we could ask for a different doctor, which we did. Dr. Matthew started over seeing my husband’s care. Dr. Matthew showed care and compassion and concern for my husband’s well being. Sharon and her staff on the 2nd floor took amazing care of my husband during his week stay due to a heart attack. Needless to say HCA er will not be a first choice anymore.
