Hawaii Family Dental - Lihue

This place is always busy. It's hard to get an appointment unless you make one 6 months in advance. Also, they did overcharge me last year for something that resulted in a $$ credit. Were they ever going to tell me if I didn't come back for service? I find it unprofessional that they hold on to a credit for over a year like that without telling you. Always had a good experience here with the dental hygienist/check in staff.

Great dentist. Professional employees. They are well knowledgeable. They are fast and efficient. They make sure you’re comfortable. They offer you a free toothbrush and toothpaste at cleaning appointments. I also love they take your blood pressure before starting. Another thing is you can listen to their music.

I had an emergency tooth with a cavity in its early stages which only needed a filling. Instead of getting a temporary filling , so I can consider my treatment options dr. Yan refused to help me and instead said I would have to get a root canal and referred me to another DR before she would even consider working on my tooth. Which in total would be about $2600. My insurance is paying you money so that I can immediate treatment , I was left to fend for myself, and scattering as I scramble to come up with the money. I would not even consider her services even if it was free. I decide what treatment because I am the one paying, you cannot decide for me, and leave me without any treatment , or any other options besides to pay you for the maximum amount possible. That is not a doctor but a poc

This is the reason why I despise the medical industry as a whole. When you come in with a medical emergency and instead of providing treatment such as a temporary filling to address an immediate concern . I was told by Dr YNN that I needed extensive treatment and was told it would cost 2600$ to fix a cavity , which only needs a filling but instead they want to do root canal, reconstruction and a crown. The Dr kept saying she is following medical guidelines , which must have made her feel more comfortable with the fact that she wanted to destroy my teeth. Why would I pay someone who has no interest in saving my teeth and only provides treatment if I am able to pay. Instead of treatment I was sent home in pain to make a other appointment when all she could done was provide at the very least

So far, it’s been a great experience well today I got my dentures.They were sore in four places by the time I got home I had to take them out. No way I could eat with them. When I took them out, I could see why all the ridges on the top which would be like the gums were way too long and sharp! They all need to be trimmed way down and sanded smooth I wish I would’ve looked at them before I left, but they were already in my mouth. Glad I still had my old dentures. I put them in and ate my dinner no problem.. I guess I’m gonna wait till my next appointment to get this problem fixed i’m sure you can fix them once I show you what you have to do!!!
