Guthrie / Robert Packer Hospital is an exceptional institution where multiple departments work seamlessly together. My sister had all of her children here and they have excellent maternal care. Recently I experienced the awesome services first hand. I first saw Dr. Mark J. Corey, MD in Primary Care; he diagnosed a dental infection and prescribed an antibiotic, then — together with Phil in scheduling — arranged an emergency dental appointment for the following day. When the pain worsened overnight, I followed Dr. Corey’s advice and went to the Emergency Department, where David Romig, NP provided a dental block that immediately relieved my pain until I could be seen. Guthrie is a true healing sanctuary. But what I really wanna say about this place is its doctors and nurses Doctor Mouhamed khan specially is a true angel. He absolutely is a gift in this place. Doctor Khan is hands down the best Dr I have met in my life time. He takes your health very seriously. He knows what he is doing but most importantly he is a human being. It’s almost as if he feels what you are going through before you even open your mouth. His presence alone is comforting. I had a liver biopsy in November, everything went very well, easy process, nurses were kind, caring and very knowledgeable (kept my spirits up and kept me at ease) the procedure was so well explained and they kept things light hearted, yet maintaining a professional standard. I was recently there; 2 days ago for another procedure. My experience was just as good if not better than November from registration to being discharged. Dr McDonald and his team were beyond outstanding. Dr McDonald has an excellent bedside manner, he put me at ease right away. Thank you for making my experiences within your facility a great one. I brought my husband to Robert Packer Hospital, presenting with a kidney stone. I hadn’t been here for years and have used UPMC and Geisinger. After coming back here, I couldn’t believe how rundown the building was, how dirty it was, and how uninvolved the staff was with us. When I arrived, the nurses were goofing off in the hallway, talking together, looking at their phones, all the while telling the patients that they were Stuffed full. I’m sure that was so that they didn’t have to spend time with the patient. And every time we called A nurse they acted rude, non-interested, and defensive. We continued to be kind and appreciative, but the filth that surrounded us made us feel unsafe here. This review is long overdue as life has happened since our visit in July. This hospital saved my now husband’s life and I am forever grateful! He had a severe abscess and infection in a decaying tooth that was broken. He was transported to this hospital from our local one who could not give him the proper treatment. From the moment he arrived until we seen the discharge nurse 5 days later, the entire staff was nothing short of amazing!! All of the nurses and care team assistants on the dayshift showed so much compassion and did everything they could to make him comfortable until he could be seen by the oral care team the next morning.
