Gainesville Family Practice

My kids were going to this practice, starting in about 2018. I started going about three years ago. Amazingly, I’m almost always able to get in to see the doctor in a decent amount of time. The front desk staff have improved tremendously and you can tell that they are trying hard to ensure they make a friendly atmosphere . I also like the way everything is digitized and available online for your review following the appointment. They also have LabCorp inside the practice so your results from labs are available almost always within about 24 hours. I don’t like the small weird layout of the waiting room, but I can deal with that. While the practice has some quirks and the occasional frustration, it has a small practice feel and I don’t feel as if I’m dealing with a faceless corporation.

This was my doctors office for many years until I decided to go somewhere closer to my house. Other than a noteable confusion in my prescriptions causing a lot of back and forth with the pharmacy, insurance and drs office, (pretty sure this was insurance fault.. but still noteworthy) my experience here throughout the years has been wonderful. Dr turkington and the nursing staff are very professional. I’d recommend this practice overall for sure!

The practice was good until it was not. They were always dismissive of my situation; maybe because they could not figure it out. I was eventually diagnosed with pulmonary embolism not big enough to kill me but big enough to cause so much pain and so many uncomfortable symptoms. I put my name on a wait list for another practice and I stayed seeing the different providers only for immediate issues until the other practice could take me as a patienc. I was so diappointed as I had no health issues when I first started going to this practice. I was new in the area when I started going here. But when things got bad for me and I couldn't find relief and this doctor's office could not find the issue, they only added to my health concerns. My husband was an existing patient at the practice and got new insurance during open enrollment. When he checked in for his appointment the front desk told him that they did not participate with his new plan and he had to pay for the visit out of pocket. Before selecting the new policy I confirmed with the office it was in network and saw the office listed on the insurance providers website. I told the front desk staff and they still disagreed with me. Even Dr Hackett told my husband they weren't in network during his visit. My husband paid in full for his visit that day and I asked once insurance paid to be refunded. A month goes by and I went online looking for the EOB to see if it was paid and they never sent the claim in to the new insurance company. I called the office and was told, "
