FirstHealth Neurosurgery - Pinehurst

I saw one of the PA’s. Last name was Coffin. The PA spent very little time with me,(around 5 minutes) explained nothing and just said he would refer me to a pain clinic. I was not given any explanation or any other options as a solution. I did not have any input in my care plan at all. I wanted to hear other options, but he just left the room before I could even ask. His demeanor gave me the feel that I was not worth his time. He didn’t ask me anything at all. I guess he would rather read my chart and not talk to me. I would be clueless if it wasn’t for the nurse that came in and explained some things. I honestly felt horrible when I left, like I had no value as a patient. I came to this office barely able to stand or walk I was basically crying in the office. The staff to me was very kind and listened to my concerns to tell the dr and were very through with making sure they had all the info from me. I saw Dr. Ravi Kumar! OHMYGOD amazing first impression he was very caring to my issues and fears. Dr. Kumar explained everything to me the pros, cons and the ups and downs of both. He showed true concern fir my pain and making sure I understood everything and answered my questions with clarity. I had my back surgery and as my boyfriend said he has never seen a Drhave such an amazing bedsmanner as Dr Kumar. I am recommending him to family and friends as well as the office because the care I received before, during and after my surgery I felt like family was takin

The staff is all friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Had my neck surgery several years back with Dr. Edwards which gave me almost immediate relief. It is starting to get a little stiff but was expected after several years. Some stretching & heat therapy helps. Dr. Africk did my 2nd back surgery. Great results. She's now retired. I'm sure I'll eventually need another one. When I do I'll ask for Dr. Walker.

My husband went to get a second opinion today on his back. He’s was referred there by his other Dr. He was supposed to see the Neurosurgeon, and instead was seen by a PA- Ryan Clark. One of the first things out of his mouth were…. How expensive their surgeries are. Now… I’m sorry but, I have had breast cancer 2x, had a spinal fusion and decompression, both of my knees replaced and a few more. NOT ONCE Has any Dr I have seen ever mentioned how costly their services would be. Quite the contrary they have always told me they have nothing to do with the money aspect and they just care about making the patient better. I am also on a need of shoulder and neck surgery and was waiting to see how my husband liked the surgeon and staff. I feel this PA is prejudice as my husband is Hispanic a

I was under the care of this facility for over a year and had two back surgeries during this time, both on the same herniated disc. Dr. Affrick comes off as arrogant and condescending instead of trying to work towards a solution. I do not feel like she prioritizes actual patient care or works with her colleagues very well. If I end up needing another back surgery in the future, I will seek another facility. Update 2024 I was told by Dr Affrick that if my disc herniated a 3rd time I would require a fusion. Then during surgery she proceeded to scrape out any disc that I had left and this is documented in the surgical report. Nothing was put back in and so now I'm stuck with bone on bone in my spine and can never get a fusion to help with stability. During 2017-2018 when I was treated here
