When I took my son to Finger Lakes Health's Urgent Care yesterday, I assumed I'd be getting him great health care (and I did--he's fine), but I did not know that the Nurse Practitioner would end the visit asking my son what his college and career plans were and encouraging him to make good use of his time in high school to explore and prepare for his future. My son was inspired, as was I. Thanks to Kathleen Kirker at Finger Lakes Health Urgent Care for going above and beyond! College readiness requires a lot of focus and drive and by checking in with your younger patients, you are helping them prepare for a lifetime of success. Well done! Receptionist was incredibly rude and more concerned about what the other walk in down the road said about them (insurance wise). I explained I’m an out of state student with out of state state-insurance. She said they accept in-state insurance only and I’d have to pay today. I explained billing departments send the bill to my insurance and my insurance pays first, if not approved, THEN I pay. Like the rest of the country (I’ve been injured in Oregon, California and Texas. All the same). She copped an attitude and said billing isn’t even in their office so I’d have to pay. Instead of just calling billing to make sure she was even right, she just left a sick student hanging, all with a condescending attitude.
