My 10 year old son has been working with Erin for about 1.5 years and has made tremendous progress in his speech development. I was recommended to find a myofunctional therapist as he was not making the appropriate gains with traditional speech therapy services and that is what led us to Erin. In our initial meeting, Erin immediately identified his weak jaw and muscle stability, as well as a tongue tie that limited his tongue movement. Erin has worked with my son to strengthen his muscles and set the foundation for correct speech sound development. Nearly a year ago, I called Erin at Evolved Therapy a bit distraught that my 8yo son was often gagging and throwing up his food due to oral sensitivity (especially with textures he deemed 'chewy', like animal proteins and vegetables). He is also on the autism spectrum and very sensitive to certain textures. Erin's background in working with folks with ASD combined with her SLP qualifications have been a perfect fit for my son. We have seen a HUGE improvement in my son's ability to tolerate different textures and "recover" from gagging! Erin is very knowledgable, also referring us to a local ortho to check on palate size and providing us with tools to support him at home. I enjoyed going to see Erin, she has helped me immensely with my tongue tie issue. We work together very well. She is extremely pleasant, warm and friendly, and a good personality and a sense of humor which people must have these days. I do my exercise exercises every day either watching TV or driving in the car it has helped immensely I’m not sure if I’m even gonna go through the surgery. She has helped so much. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice! Erin has been lovely to work with, but we’ve directly seen Alissa and she is truly exceptional. Alissa is an unbelievably skilled clinician, and has helped us navigate some challenging and very nuanced feeding, breathing, and swallowing issues with our newborn. She brings a wealth of knowledge about the physical mechanisms and sensory processes underlying these issues, and understands nervous system regulation on a level that is rare to find. In 6 session with Erin, I have seen more improvement in my 5 year old daughter’s speech (and even behavior) than I have in two years of regular speech. I knew nothing about myofunctional speech before this and I’m so sad I waited to start. Erin is both gentle, completely intuitive about children, and brilliant at her job. Highly recommend.
