Customer Reviews
Surprised this place has such bad reviews. We had a great experience here with my 15 month old. We were able to schedule a new patient visit online three months out, which honestly is a short timeframe compared to most other offices booking 6 months+ out for new patients. Front desk staff was friendly. We were promptly taken back to a patient room and Dr. Mousallem came shortly after. He was very knowledgeable addressing our concerns, and let us know the plan every step of the way. The nursing staff was also prompt and friendly and verbally walked us through my daughter's skin testing before administering it. We got a clear explanation of the results at the end of the skin test with the plan laid out clearly pending possible outcomes of bloodwork. We got a call with the blood test results
I am writing this review out of sheer exhaustion of trying to get care for my daughter specifically related to her allergies. We have been unable to switch providers (we are established here) due to Dukes division policy here despite being unhappy with our current allergist - unhappy because we feel like our concerns and goals are being minimized and overlooked. We have tried for a month now to schedule an appointment with a new provider who might be able to offer a second opinion- or better help us understand recommendations. After trying to schedule a visit for over a month (4 voicemails left over this time), the business manager called me and provided secondhand information from an allergist. It was nice to finally get a call but I still couldn’t ask any clinical questions. Ultimately
I wish I could give a 0. I was transferred to the scheduling person of this place by the operator of another department in duke. The guy is very rude from the beginning--- from the tone you know you are not welcomed the first second. He told me I need a referral from my doctor to make an appointment and refused to tell me what is his department! How can I tell my doctor where to refer to if they do not want to tell me which department they are at? So I ask what is the phone number and he refused to give me. After a few rounds of negotiation, he gave a phone number and it turns out to be a fax number and I finally googled and got this place in google with a a 2.6 review. It is such a funny experiences--- I do not want to make referral without even knowing what specialty doctors I am
I've never left a review for a medical practice before, but this feels like a place where it could help someone. Duke's allergy practice has wonderful and caring providers and staff, however their recommendations do not follow the latest research in allergy. The wait times are months long and there are other practices in the area that provide significantly better (not outdated) care (UNC, Dr. Fitzhugh). The physician we saw seemed to have absolutely no understanding of how onerous food allergies can be, and strongly advised us against therapies and options that are gaining more and more traction and are offered by other practices. It was a very needlessly discouraging interaction, and we are so lucky we were able to see other providers elsewhere who gave us better advice and a better progn
My wife brought our <2yo son in for a food allergy related visit. The NP deemed it necessary to divert from the allergy discussion and question/pressure my wife about our decision not to take the covid vaccine. It had absolutely nothing to do with our visit and I am tired of it. This will be our last visit to any Duke provider.
