Dr. Katherine Helgen, MD, FACP

Dr. Helgen was my primary care provider. She, however, repeatedly ignored my abdominal pain, to the point I was told by a nurse that Dr. Helgen would no longer see me for abdominal pain, because the pain was "in my head." I sought a second opinion, was properly diagnosed, and had surgery to correct the issue. Her biases prevented her from seeing me as a human being in need of care. Please think twice before selecting her as your physician.

Dr. Helgen is my primary care physician while I attend school at St. Olaf College. She is very punctual to appointments (I typically wait in the waiting room for less than five minutes, and the examination room between the nurse and Dr. Helgen for less than two.) and so far been an excellent healthcare provider. She is very knowledgeable and never prescribes any treatment that is not necessary. While appointments with Dr. Helgen seem very short, she takes the time to effectively explain what your symptoms mean, and what she will and will not do to treat the underlying causes, as well as how you can help to alleviate the symptoms.
