Costco Pharmacy

If anyone could give the staff a reason to be rude, it would be me. They have never treated me less than professional. I've never had to wait more than four minutes with three people in line. As per convenience, step-by-step, they are just as close to the entrance as most other grocery stores. Even when it's not as convenient as the drugstores, drugstore prescriptions will cost more. A few steps more, a few dollars less -- and much better service. You do not have to be a member of Costco in order to use the pharmacy.!!!

They like to fill RXs on 30 day increments. Which insurance companies (mine included) often deny bc they only approve 90 day supplies. That being said, this pharmacy called me to tell me that the insurance co doesnt allow 30 day refills and offered to apply a good Rx discount for a 90 day supply... And it was still cheaper ... Wayyy cheaper, than CVS. I go here bc the wait is always next to nothing, which I love the most. Second most I love the pricing. Is it less convenient than CVS? Yes. But the pros outweigh the con.

Ridiculous! Showed up to pick up an RX hours after I had submitted a refill request to be told “we’re out of stock.” Couldn’t make a phone call to let a customer know!? No apology offered! On another occasion, they wouldn’t fill an RX because the doctor had misspelled the name on the script by ONE letter, and didn’t offer to call their office to straighten it out. Are you kidding me!? We spend ~12k per year at Costco and this is the treatment we get!?

Don’t even bother, honestly some of the worst customer service. I guess it is Costco’s policy for controlled pain meds, which someone who just arrived home from surgery, most likely needs, can’t find out via phone if they have them. Okay no problem, I’ll drive there to check, nope don’t have them, ask agent, do you know or can you find out if a different Costco has it in stock, “sorry I can’t check it is controlled”. So.... basically if you want to get a prescription filled at a Costco, I guess it’s totally okay by them to allow you to drive all over to each Costco to find out if a different one has the medicine. It’s unfathomable that a pharmacist can’t call another pharmacist, from an internal Costco phone number, and verify for a customer.

My husband had the flu and his doctor prescribed Tamiflu. The CVS pharmacist in Haymarket claimed there wasn’t any Tamiflu available in the area. They could fill it the next day at 3pm. I contacted Costco and the pharmacist, Linda, told me they had it in stock. Linda knew the urgency and contacted CVS to transfer the prescription right away. My husband was able to start Tamiflu that evening and it shortened the duration of the flu. He has a chronic condition and we are so grateful for a caring pharmacist, Linda.
