Children's Dental FunZone - Ontario

I recently brought my child to this pediatric dental office for a routine check-up. The visit itself was fine, and the staff were polite. However, when I politely asked for a copy of the diagnostic report/summary (which is my legal right as a parent under California law), they charged me $45 for what appeared to be just a few pages of basic notes. According to California Health and Safety Code § 123110 (which applies to dental records as well), providers can only charge a maximum of $0.25 per page for paper copies, plus a reasonable clerical fee based on actual costs — not an arbitrary flat fee. For electronic copies (which most offices can provide easily), the fee should be even lower, limited to labor and supplies only. $45 is way beyond any reasonable amount for a short report. This fee

Front desk staff are kind and approachable always. We arrived early for our appointment today and they accommodated us right away. The dental staff are so supportive and kind to both my daughter and me making sure to explain everything prior to acting on it to make my 2 year old daughter feel even more comfortable ie “we are putting on this fancy vest to protect you from the X-rays…look mommy gets one too”. Both our Hygenist and Dr are such loving sweet and incredibly kind people. Children are so unpredictable and they always arrive with such a calm and cool demeanor. Puts both me and my girls at ease every visit. My daughter‘s first dental experience, which was not at a children’s dental fund zone, was extremely horrifying for both of us. I was super nervous about her appointment, but she did great at the x-ray. She did great letting the dentist see inside her mouth, and everything was so easy and seamless that I was super impressed because I was really nervous, and she was actually happy to be there and wasn’t running away. She will have to have some work done soon, so my nerves have definitely calmed down knowing what’s ahead and that I don’t have to worry.

Receptionists are friendly. My daughter loved the environment. This office is bright and colorful, there's a nice built in fish tank to add to the patients waiting experience. There are tablets built in to the walls which my daughter loved and also three wall mounted plasma tvs with Disney/Nickelodeon movies playing. Even I loved that part :) . I was also given the chance to enter a raffle to win a Free bicycle for my daughter just by reviewing the office and letting other future patients know about this office . I’ve been bringing my kids here for years and have generally trusted the office, which is why this visit was so disappointing. I was initially told my son needed treatment for a cavity and that it would not be covered because it was considered “cosmetic,” meaning I’d have to pay out of pocket. After I asked more questions, I was then told it might only be a possible cavity and not an actual one yet. It honestly felt like if I hadn’t asked for clarification, I would have been charged for a procedure that may not have been necessary. As a long-time patient and a parent, I expect clear, transparent explanations about what is required versus optional and why insurance will or won’t cover it. Please be aware and don’t be afraid to ask detailed questions before agreeing to treatment.
