Charles Hollander, OD

When your wife encounters an eye irregularity on a holiday abroad to New York, you think the worst from what Europe hears about the cost of health care in America. As this was an emergency we simply door stepped Charles’s practice as it was the nearest to our hotel. Within a half hour the team managed to get her an eye examination even with them short staffed and the reception area busy and the phones constantly ringing. Charles took over this practice from his father and has invested in the best of equipment that enabled him to diagnose the issue. He went as far as to get a second option to be sure of this findings. What a service we received, and he did not fleece us on the fee either. Amazing experience. And worth sharing.

I have been going to Dr. Hollander and his staff for years and they are amazing, I hope they live forever bc I would be crushed to have to go anyplace else. The location is super convenient (between Grand Central and Times Square). The staff are always nice no matter how busy they are, efficient with booking and rebooking appointments, and my appointments are always efficient. Once I had to wait a little bit (honestly I didn’t even notice, I’m so used to being made to wait at most other medical offices), and Dr. Hollander personally called me to apologize! They do a great job of taking care of my medical/eyesight needs, answering all my questions, and I really appreciate that they keep an eye out for relevant rebates when I need to replenish my contact supply. Highly recommend!

Dr. Hollander is the best of old school NYC: caring, thorough, communicative, dedicated, and committed to getting things done right. All with compassion and humor. If you need any kind of specialized contact lens, this man is an artist. I wish I could find a doctor in any other specialty one tenth as capable and devoted.

I singled out Mary because she helped me with Scleral lenses you recommend to me. All your staff has been very courteous and accommodating during my visits as well. I have known and used Dr. Hollander since he started practicing. He is a dedicated Dr. and is great in his field. Unfortunately I no longer use him, but that’s because I’ve moved away from NYC area.
